Joanne Isbel is a Clinical Psychologist. Joanne completed her Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Psychology, and Masters in Clinical Psychology at the University of Queensland. Joanne is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and an endorsed member of the Clinical College. Joanne has worked in hospital and community settings – including rural community health, hospital outpatient services, and inpatient mental health. Joanne has experience in acute mental health diagnosis and treatment, treatment of comorbid psychological and medical health conditions, and behaviour change therapy. Joanne has worked in private practice since 2007.

Joanne has experience in assisting people with a variety of mental health concerns including anxiety disorders, depression, and relationship and work stressors. Joanne has a focus on women’s mental health, especially anxiety disorders and life balance issues. Joanne has experience working with children aged 5 years and older, and is available to receive referrals for children with anxiety and/or depression. Joanne has trained in Triple P parenting strategies (please note that referrals specifically for parenting therapy are not covered by Medicare). Workcover assessments and court reports are not Joanne’s specialty and not a focus of her practice.

Joanne has a strong interest in motivational therapy for behaviour change in adults, anxiety in children and women, and helping clients work towards life balance. Joanne regularly participates in professional development activities including attending skills based workshops.
